Veteran Stars You Thought Were Long Gone but Are Not Even Planning Their Retirement

Carl Weathers – January 14, 1948

Carl Weathers went from playing professional football to becoming a movie star—a transition no one saw coming. But if anyone had any doubts about his ability to pull off an authentic portrayal on-screen, they disappeared after his unforgettable roles in the first four films in the “Rocky” series and “Street Justice.”

Compared to his acting career, Weather’s football career was relatively brief. He began playing professionally for the Oakland Raiders in 1970 before joining the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League a year later. But those days are far behind him. In 2023, he reprised his role as ‘Greef Karga’ in “The Mandalorian.”

Talia Shire – April 25, 1946

Talia Shire is another talented actress best known for her role in “The Godfather” and the “Rocky” film series. But younger fans may remember her as ‘Ida Stern’ in the 2021 drama film, “Romancing Brazil.”

Shire received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in honor of her portrayal of ‘Connie Corleone’ in “The Godfather II” and a nomination for Best Actress for her role as ‘Adrian Balboa’ in “Rocky.” And considering that she’s an aunt to Nicolas Cage and Sofia Coppola, it would seem that a love of the arts runs deep within her family—no wonder she’s remained active since her career debut in the ’60s.

Mr. T – May 21, 1952

You wouldn’t believe how Mr. T  looks like now. You just wouldn’t. It would be a hard time figuring out if this lively man is 37 or 67. The former wrestler became famous for his roles in Rocky III and The A-Team. The bulky Laurence Tureaud aka Mr. T has had his hands in several activities to keep him as busy as he likes to be. From appearing in several TV shows, to being a pitchman, popping up in a number of movie roles and launching his product line, Mr. T is steadily raking in the money and it’s probably the rigors of work that have kept him fit and ageless! In the mid-90s, Mr. T battled cancer and in 2016, he wrote and published a book titled Cancer Saved My Life: Cancer Ain’t For No Wimps. The book was his testament to successfully defeating the disease.
