Beseeching Eyes

The dog stared at him with those soulful eyes; yes, dogs have that in them when they set their sights on you, they can melt you, and this dog, too, was doing the same thing, looking at him with huge, watery eyes and the man noticed that he had a growling belly.

The man’s first instinct was to shoo it away, which he did, but the dog didn’t move away. The man thought there was only one way to get rid of it; although he didn’t want it to happen, he had no choice.
